Our Statement of Faith: A Profession of Trust and Hope

Embracing Eternity and Life with God

We affirm a profound truth: in both life and death, we are under God's eternal care. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the enduring love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we place our unwavering trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, our sole object of worship and service.

Jesus Christ: Our Foundation of Faith

We believe in Jesus Christ, who is both fully human and divine. He announced the kingdom of God, bringing hope to the oppressed and freedom to the captives. His teachings, actions, and blessings extended to all, particularly to those marginalized and suffering. Despite facing unjust condemnation and crucifixion, thereby enduring the extremes of human suffering, Jesus offered His life for the redemption of the world. His resurrection, as an act of God, affirms His sinless existence and breaks the chains of sin and evil, leading us from death to eternal life.

God the Creator: Our Loving Parent

We trust in God, whom Jesus intimately referred to as Abba, Father. In an expression of sovereign love, God created the world in goodness and made every individual in God's image, regardless of gender, race, or background, to live in unity. Yet, in our human frailty, we often stray from God, compromising the divine image within ourselves and others. Despite our failings and the just condemnation we deserve, God's mercy and justice prevail, working to redeem creation.

The Covenant of Love and Faithfulness

In an everlasting demonstration of love, God chose a covenant people, starting from Abraham and Sarah, to bless all humanity. God heard the cries of the Israelites and liberated them from bondage. This covenant extends to us through Christ, making us heirs of God's promises. God’s faithfulness is unceasing, akin to the love of a parent who never abandons their child.

The Holy Spirit: Giver of Life and Unity

We put our faith in the Holy Spirit, the source of life and renewal. The Spirit justifies us through grace and faith, liberates us to embrace our true selves and love God and neighbor, and unites us with believers in the global body of Christ. Guided by the Spirit, we follow the teachings of Scripture, celebrate the sacraments of baptism and communion, and are called to diverse ministries.

Our Call to Action and Hope

In a world often marred by fear and brokenness, the Holy Spirit empowers us to be courageous, to advocate for justice, peace, and freedom, and to listen to voices that have long been silenced. Grateful and emboldened by the Spirit, we commit to serving Christ in our everyday lives, aspiring to lead lives of holiness and joy. We eagerly await God's new creation, praying for the return of Christ.

A Shared Joy in God’s Eternal Love

United with believers across time and space, we rejoice in the assurance that nothing in life or death can ever separate us from God's love revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. To God be the glory, now and forever. Amen.
